The Application Process
Wondering what your students need to have when they’re ready to submit their application? Explore our curriculum requirements and application process.
4 years of college-prep or advanced math
trigonometry or pre-calculus at a minimum
3 years of lab science
either physics or chemistry at a minimum
4 years of English
All core courses required for graduation聽
Advanced Mathematics
80% of students admitted to Mines complete Calculus 1 or higher in high school
Advanced Science
Preferably Physics and Chemistry (one required)
Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or concurrent enrollment courses
(if available)
Academic Electives
STEM-centric courses, including computer science or engineering if available
Required Materials:
- Online application
- Golden Application or Common App. No preference given to either option
- $50 application fee
- $75 for international students
- Official or unofficial high school transcripts*
- U.S. citizens who studied abroad, please see the “Transcript Requirements” section of our International First-Year Admissions page for more detailed information on international transcript requirements.
Strongly Encouraged for Best Consideration:
- Two short responses
- These allow your student to share more information regarding their personal, academic, and extracurricular experiences with the person reviewing theirr application.

Is Mines Test-Optional?
Mines is a test-optional university. Your student’s application will receive equal consideration in our holistic admissions and merit scholarship review process – with or without test scores.
National research and Colorado-specific data show that test scores can be a limiting factor to students and are unnecessary when making an admissions decision. If your student believes test scores will further highlight their academic ability, they are welcome to include them in theirapplication file

Submit the $50 application fee
($75 for international students)
Step 3
Ask your high school counselor to send us your official high school transcript.
You can also upload an unofficial high school transcript to your application in your applicant portal.
Step 4
Check the status of your application and decision in your applicant portal.
Login info for your applicant portal will be provided shortly after you submit your application.

Each year we receive approximately 12,000 applications. Competitive applicants typically have the following:

Important Dates and Deadlines
Keep track of important dates and deadlines for the application, and explore additional opportunities available to students at Mines.
Application Timeline:
Application Opens
The undergraduate admission application opens each year on August 1. Students may apply using the Common App or Golden App.
Colorado Free Application Days
Students attending high school in the state of Colorado can apply to Mines for free during this window. Visit our Free App Days site for more info!
Priority Application Deadline
Students who are strongly considering 麻豆分行 for fall 2025 should apply by November 1.
Priority Decisions Released
Students who submitted an application by the priority deadline will receive a decision from Mines by December 21.
Regular Application Deadline
Students considering 麻豆分行 for fall 2025 who did not meet our priority deadline should apply by January 15. Applications will be accepted after this date as space allows.
Regular Decisions Released
Students who submitted an application by the regular deadline will receive a decision from Mines by March 1.
National Decision Day
Students who have been offered a spot at Mines must submit their enrollment decision form and $200 deposit by May 1.

Scholarship Applications Open
Accepted students have the opportunity to apply for a variety of scholarships at Mines. Students will receive information via email and in their acceptance packet. More info can also be found on our scholarship webiste.
Honors Application Opens
Mines offers two first-year honors experiences. Accepted students may apply to these programs beginning in December. Space is limited. Students will receive additional info via email and in their acceptance packet. More info can also be found on our first-year honors webiste.
First Year Semester Abroad Experience Application Opens
麻豆分行, in partnership with CEA CAPA Study Abroad, offers an innovative聽First Year Semester Abroad Experience (FYSAE)聽in Antibes, France. Students can be a part of a unique cohort of students who, during their first semester of college, step out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves by learning and living in a new country and culture.
Priority Scholarship Application Deadline
Students should submit their general scholarship application by March 1, 2025 for best consideration.聽Please keep in mind that some scholarship programs have deadlines prior to March 1. More information can be found in the applicant portal.
First Year Semester Abroad Application Deadline
Students should submit their application to the First Year Semester Abroad Experience by March 16, 2025. Decisions will be released in mid-April.
