The Mines Police Department

Our department consists of 13 sworn full-time law enforcement professionals, and one full-time civilian employee. The police officers employed by the department are fully trained police officers in accordance with the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Board and the Colorado Revised Statutes. The Mines police personnel are dedicated to a community policing philosophy that works to develop partnerships and strategies to reduce crime, the fear of crime, and enhance the quality of life.

The Mines Police Department takes great pride in offering training and outreach programs to the community. You are encouraged to provide us with feedback, and you may submit a citizen commendation or complaint that will be taken seriously and investigated in a timely manner). We work closely with a number of Colorado law enforcement agencies and our federal partners. Your safety is our top priority and Mines police personnel are in direct radio communication with the Jefferson County regional Communications Center. Our Mission

It is the mission of the Â鶹·ÖÐÐ Police Department to make the Mines campus the safest campus in Colorado.

Department members strive to provide progressive, professional and courteous police services in partnership with the Â鶹·ÖÐÐ community and the residents of the City of Golden.

Services to the Mines Community

  • Proactive patrol of the campus and its facilities
  • Investigation and reporting of crimes and incidents
  • Motor vehicle traffic and parking enforcement
  • Crime and security awareness programs
  • Alcohol and drug abuse awareness/education
  • Self-defense classes
  • Consultation with campus departments for safety and security matters
  • Additional services to the campus community such as: vehicle unlocks and jumpstarts, community safe walks (escorts), building and office security, and assistance in any medical, fire, or other emergency situation

Investigations

Mines Police actively investigate criminal cases and criminal activity as required, as well as review reports of old or “cold” crimes. Mines Police Officers follow up crime reports that have investigative leads. Criminal cases are analyzed and assigned for investigation to include issuing felony or misdemeanor summonses or obtaining arrest warrants when required. Investigators coordinate with the district or city attorney’s offices for the filing of all criminal charges.

Mines Police Department crime reports containing information that may affect the security or safety of other Mines departments and divisions are routed to those units and appropriate administrators as necessary.

Administration

The Â鶹·ÖÐÐ Police Department provides records, evidence, training and general office support.

Training:  In addition providing core training to the Â鶹·ÖÐÐ Police Department staff and officers, the training division works closely with the campus community to provide resources and training programs for Mines and local community.
